2011 North Country Fiber Fair

The 19th annual North Country Fiber Fair will be held September 16th, 17th and 18th, at the Codington County Extension Complex in Watertown, South Dakota.  Friday is for workshops only with the Fiber Fair open to the public from 9am to 5:30pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday. Admission is free.  NCFF will hold a working Sheep Dog Demonstration on Saturday and Sunday, Sheep Shearing on Saturday and a Sheep discussion and answer forum on Sunday

A variety of workshops will be held over the weekend on knitting, spinning, felting, basketry, natural plant dyeing and hand painting with dyes, weaving, and crochet – there are class fees associated with the workshops. New this year are How to “speak dog” and basic dog obedience workshops. Nationally known teachers giving workshops will be Patsy Zawistoski (IL), the “Spinning Guru,” Rick Mondragon (SD), editor of Knitter’s Magazine; and Kathleen Taylor (SD), author/fiber artist; and weaver/fiber artist, Grete Bodogaard (SD).  There will be numerous vendors selling knitting, crochet and spinning supplies, yarns, books, carded fibers and exotics, and much more.  There is a concession stand with homemade food.

North Country Fiber Fair is a non-profit organization which organizes an annual event to expand opportunities for fiber producers and consumers as well as education in all aspects of fiber production, fiber arts and marketing.  For more information check out www.northcountryfiberfair.org or call 605-254-8434.
